Xiaomi showcased the Redmi A4 5G at the Indian Mobile Congress. It is the first smartphone in the country powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 chipset and is heralded as bringing “5G for every Indian.” Xiaomi hasn’t divulged much about the phone but has hinted at the price range. Let’s see how much the phone could cost and its other expected details.

Meanwhile, here’s what we know based on leaks and rumours:
Redmi A4 5G specifications (expected)
- Display: On the front, the phone could sport a 6.7-inch LCD panel with HD+ resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate. This is similar specs as the Redmi A3 (4G).
- Battery: Under the hood, there could be a 5,000mAh cell with 18W wired charging support. If true, that would be a faster charger than the 10W adapter on the A3.
- Cameras: The selfies could come out of an 8MP sensor. From the phone’s demo, we gather it has a 50MP primary camera and a secondary sensor. This would be a big jump from an 8MP+0.08MP duo on the predecessor.
- Processor: The underlying Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 was launched back in July 2024. It is an octa-core chipset fabricated on Samsung’s 4nm process node. It consists of two Cortex-A78 performance cores clocked at up to 2GHz frequency and six Cortex-A55 efficiency cores at up to 1.8GHz clock speed. It supports LPDDR4x RAM and UFS 3.1 storage.

- The phone appears to have a round camera island on the back. Even the Redmi A3 (4G) has a circular rear camera panel. The Redmi A4 5G’s panel seems glossier.
- The sides are flat. The right side has the volume rocker and power button. The A3’s power button doubles as a fingerprint reader. Let’s see if the successor adopts the same biometric solution.
- We can see two colourways of the phone. One is light and the other one is dark. The phone also appears to have a 3.5mm headphone jack on its head.
