Xiaomi 15 series has launched in China as the first batch of Snapdragon 8 Elite-powered phones. It has two phones including a Pro variant. Both phones are powered by Qualcomm’s new flagship chipset. The Xiaomi 15 series offers upgrades over last year’s Xiaomi 14 series with upgraded cameras, bigger batteries, and a faster chipset. 

Here’s a detailed look at the latest flagship lineup from Xiaomi. 

Xiaomi 15 series price, availability

• The Xiaomi 15 series comes in up to four variants starting at CNY 4,499 (Rs 52,994 approx) for the base model with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage. 
• Xiaomi 15 is also available in a custom version with 40 colour shades to choose from. This is available for the 16GB + 512GB variant priced at CNY 4,999 (Rs 58,884 approx).
• Xiaomi 15 Pro 12GB + 256GB is also the base model and it costs CNY 5,499. 
• Xiaomi 15 comes in five colour options: black, white, green, lilac, silver, and a limited diamond edition.  
• The Xiaomi 15 series can be purchased in China from October 31st onwards. 

Xiaomi 15, Xiaomi 15 Pro specifications

• Display: Xiaomi 15 features a 6.36-inch 1.5K display with a 120Hz refresh rate. The Pro model has a bigger 6.73-inch 2K micro-curved OLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate. Both phones have a peak brightness of 3,200 nits and use customised luminous M9 material, which is said to reduce overall power consumption by 10 percent. 
  
• Processor: Both phones are powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor. 
• RAM and storage: The Xiaomi 15 series comes with up to 16GB RAM and 1TB of onboard storage.
• Xiaomi 15 Cameras: Xiaomi 15 features a 50MP LightHunter 900 primary camera, a 50MP ultra-wide camera, and a 50MP 3.2x telephoto lens. The smartphone houses a 32MP OmniVision OV32B40 front camera. 
• Xiaomi 15 Pro Cameras: The Pro model has a 50MP Light Hunter 900 primary sensor, a  50MP Samsung JN1 ultra-wide camera and a 50MP Sony IMX858 5X periscope lens. 
• Battery, charging: The vanilla model has a 5,400mAh battery with 90W wired and 50W wireless charging support. The Pro model gets a massive 6,100mAh battery with the same fast charging capabilities.
• Software: On the software front both phones run HyperOS 2.0 with Android 15 layered on top. These are the first phones to run the latest custom OS. 
• Other features: With the Xiaomi 15 series, you also get an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance, an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, 

Xiaomi 15 series: what’s new?

The Xiaomi 15 series is the brand’s new flagship lineup succeeding last year’s Xiaomi 14 series. You get an upgraded chipset, which is the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC. In terms of design, you get a similar look with the flat edges and punch-hole display. There is a tiny change at the back with the LED flash now sitting outside the square camera module. 

Another major upgrade in the Xiaomi 15 series is the battery capacity. Xiaomi 15 has a 5,400mAh battery compared to the Xiaomi 14’s 4,610mAh cell. The Pro model has an even bigger 6,100mAh battery over the Xiaomi 14 Pro’s 4,880mAh battery.

The Xiaomi 15 series continues with the Leica branding but the camera setup has received some improvements, especially the telephoto lens. The Pro model also offers 10X lossless zoom feature thanks to the 5X periscope camera.
