Truecaller brings real-time caller ID and spam blocking to iPhones | Tech Tips
Truecaller has announced a major update for iPhone users bringing features such as real-time caller ID and spam call blocking to the mix. These features were earlier available only on Android smartphones and now the company it extending them to iPhones.
iPhone Truecaller real-time caller ID, scam call blocking
- For the unversed, Truecaller’s real-time caller ID feature shows the name of the caller and possible location from which the call is originating from as users get the call. In addition to this, the real-time caller ID feature also shows if the call is from a person the user already knows.
- On the other hand, the spam call identification feature helps users identify spam calls, robocalls, and other fraudulent calls in real time.
- Truecaller’s new features comes on the heels of Apple’s Live Caller ID Lookup framework, which it introduced with the rollout of iOS 18 last year.
- Coming to the availability, these new features are available to Truecaller’s Premium subscribers only and they will be available across the globe in the coming weeks. Truecaller Premium costs Rs 99 per month and Rs 899 per year in India.
- It is worth mentioning that this is the first major update that Truecaller has released since its co-founders Alan Mamedi and Nami Zarringhalam stepped down from day-to-day operations and Rishit Jhunjhunwala became the CEO of the company in November 2024.
How to enable Truecaller’s new features on iPhone
To enable real-time caller ID and spam call detection features on iPhones, Truecaller users need to download the version 14 or newer of the app on their devices and follow these steps:
- Step 1: Open the Settings app on iPhone.
- Step 2: Go to the Apps section and then tap the Phone option.
- Step 3: Tap the Call Blocking and Identification option.
- Step 4: Enable all Truecaller switches.
- Step 5: Open the Truecaller app to activate all the changes.
