Samsung Galaxy S25+ European variant appears on Geekbench with Exynos 2500 chipset | Tech Tips
Samsung Galaxy S25 series is not new to the rumour mill. We have seen various leaks about the phones in recent times. One particular report that caught attention is the one which said the Galaxy S25 series may not have a variant with the Exynos 2500 chipset owing to low yields. But it appears all hopes are not lost as the alleged Galaxy S25+ European variant has been spotted on Geekbench with the Exynos SoC.
Samsung Galaxy S25+ seems to have a variant with Exynos 2500
- The Samsung Galaxy S25+ European variant has been spotted on Geekbench with the model number SM-S936B.
- The motherboard section mentions ‘S5E9955’ chip, which is apparently the model number associated with the unannounced Exynos 2500 processor (via SamMobile).
- This is an interesting development, especially considering that multiple reports are claiming that Samsung might exclusively use the Snapdragon 8 Elite for all of the Galaxy S25 series.
- The Geekbench appearance with the Exynos chipset means there could be at least one region where the Snapdragon 8 Elite-powered Galaxy S25 series might not be available.
- The listing reveals the Galaxy S25+ runs on Android 15 OS and packs 12GB RAM but there could be other options at launch.
- The Exynos 2500 has 2 cores clocked at 1.80Hz, 5 cores at 2.36GHz, 2 cores at 2.75GHz, and a single core at 3.30GHz.
- The Samsung Galaxy S25+ has managed to score 2359 in the single-core round and 8141 in the multi-core segment.
- In comparison, the Exynos 2400-powered Galaxy S24+ has scored 1992 in the single-core round and 6604 in the multi-core segment. This means the successor will bring notable performance improvements.
The Exynos 2500 chipset could use the Xclipse 950 GPU based on AMD’s RDNA architecture. It could support Vulkan 1.3 API for graphics and brings new features like device profiles, dynamic rendering, additional dynamic state, and improved synchronisation API. The Exynos 2500 chip is fabricated using Samsung Foundry’s second-generation 3nm process.
Some reports said the Exynos 2500 yield is quite low and this led to the company planning to cancel its plans to use the Exynos 2500 but with the latest development, its not all bad news for the Exynos chip. There are also chances the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra might exclusively use the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. Samsung Galaxy S25 series is expected to debut around early 2025 so a lot can change in the meantime.
