Meta Quest 3S VR headset appears on FCC ahead of launch | Tech Tips
Possible Meta Quest 3S VR was recently spotted on the Dekra certification platform. Now the VR headset has appeared on the FCC certification, as exclusively spotted by 91mobiles. This means we might be inching close to the launch in global markets, including the US. The Meta Quest 3S VR is believed to be placed in the entry-level VR segment when it launches.
Meta Quest 3S VR might be unveiled soon
- The Meta Quest 3S VR FCC listing confirms the model number P97, much like the Dekra listing and the applicant as Meta Platforms Technologies LLC.
- The FCC certification shows the Meta VR headset will have dual-band Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth connectivity. The software version mentioned is V5.2.1.57S.
- The FCC listing mentions the controller and the model name ‘Rubby’.
- The FCC certification doesn’t reveal much else about the VR headset at the moment.
Meta Quest 3S VR: what we know so far
As said, the Meta Quest 3S VR was recently spotted on the Dekra platform and this failed to reveal any hardware details of the headset. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reports the marketing name of the upcoming Meta VR headset is finalised but the company might eventually settle for Meta Quest 3S VR.
The new model will be based on the standard Meta Quest 3 and could be priced cheaper in comparison. This should make the VR headset slightly more affordable. This should make more users get into the VR bandwagon and join the Meta ecosystem. The Meta Quest 3S VR could be priced between $300-$400, which should make it reasonably cheaper than the Meta Quest 3, which is priced at $500. Bloomberg says the company is also considering cutting down the cost by selling the controllers separately.
Meta Connect 2024 is scheduled for September 25th and 26th and we might see the Meta Quest 3S VR debuting on stage during the event.
