iPhone SE 4 expected to launch in 2025 with Apple Intelligence out of the box: report | Tech Tips
While reports suggest the iPhone 16 series may not include Apple Intelligence (AI) out of the box, it seems the next iPhone SE model could. Not only that, the lower-end iPhone could support on-device AI as well, a feature that is not even be available on the iPhone 15. Furthermore, in the latest report, we also learn about certain iPhone 16 upgrades, the iPhone 17 slim variant, and folding iPad rumours.
iPhone SE 4 launch window and Apple Intelligence support
According to Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, Apple could launch the iPhone SE at the beginning of 2025. The previous iPhone SE was launched in March of 2022. So, we suppose a Q1, 2025 launch window is possible for the forthcoming iPhone SE.
This new iPhone SE model could feature an iPhone 14-like front design, a smoother OLED display and Apple Intelligence.
The full-fledged Apple Intelligence with on-device AI capabilities won’t run on regular iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus. So, that should give you an idea of the performance ceiling of the next-gen iPhone SE.
Gurman also reveals what he expects out of the iPhone 16 series:
- As per Gurman, Apple Intelligence will be the biggest highlight for the new iPhones, but he doesn’t think these features will alone be a reason to upgrade.
- All iPhone 16 models will sport the Action Button but with the arrival of more customisation options in the Control Center and Lock Screen buttons in iOS 18, he feels the Action Button won’t be a big “asset” for the new iPhones.
- There will be a Capture button as well which will allow you to trigger autofocus with a single click, click the shutter with a press, and zoom in and out by swiping across its sides.
- The iPhone 16 Pro could get a 6.3-inch display while the Pro Max model could get a 6.9-inch panel.
- All models will get 8GB of RAM and A18-series chips.
- The iPhone 15 series’ faded Blue colour will be replaced with a darker shade and you can expect the return of the rose gold (Rose Titanium) colour.
iPhone 17 series: what to expect
- iPhone 17 lineup will include a fourth model which could be like an “Air version of the iPhone,” slotting in between iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Pro.
- This iPhone 17 Slim could have the regular iPhone 17 specs but in a slimmer profile. So, it may not boast the performance, screen size, or cameras of the Pro model.
- Gurman thinks Apple would eventually want the iPhone Pro models to have a very slim design by 2027. This could be a step in that direction.
The Cupertino company could also launch a foldable iPhone or more likely a foldable iPad in the future. So, more exciting form factors are on their way!
