Tech giant Apple has introduced the iOS 18.2 update alongside the iPadOS 18.2 and macOS Sequoia 15.2. Notably, the iOS 18.2 update for iPhones aims to enhance the Apple Intelligence features, which the company previously announced. iOS 18.2 update availability
- The company has announced that Apple Intelligence is now available as part of the iOS 18.2 update.
- It can be used in most regions globally, provided the device and Siri language are set to localised English for countries such as Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, South Africa, the UK, or the US.
- It is worth noting that the features of Apple Intelligence are limited to the iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, iPhone 16 Pro Max, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max.
- However, the iOS 18.2 update is compatible with several iPhones, including the iPhone SE (2nd generation), iPhone SE (3rd generation), iPhone 11 series, iPhone 12 series, iPhone 13 series, iPhone 14 series and more.

iOS 18.2 update features
The Image Playground feature lets users create customised images using themes, costumes, and locations, with the option to add text descriptions or use photos from their library, including images of family or friends. It offers two styles – Animation (3D-animated look) and Illustration (simple shapes and colour-blocking). Integrated into Messages and apps like Freeform and Keynote, Image Playground is also available as a standalone app for easy image creation.
The Genmoji feature makes conversations more fun and interactive. By typing a description into the emoji keyboard, users can generate multiple Genmoji options. They can further personalise these using images from their photo library, adding accessories like hats or sunglasses or reflecting specific themes. Like traditional emojis, Genmoji can be shared inline in messages, as stickers, or as reactions in Tapback.
Powered by Apple Intelligence, the Writing Tools now include a new Describe Your Change option, which lets users specify the changes they want to make in their text. This feature offers more flexibility, whether enhancing resume action verbs or rewriting a dinner invitation as a poem. Like other Writing Tools, Describe Your Change is available systemwide across Apple and many third-party apps.
The ChatGPT support is now integrated into Siri and Writing Tools across iOS, iPadOS, and macOS, allowing users to access its capabilities directly within apps. Siri can suggest using ChatGPT for certain requests and provide responses. In Writing Tools, users can generate content or create images with ChatGPT. The integration is optional, giving users control over when and what data is shared.
Notably, several other features are also introduced in the Notes app and visual intelligence. The company also mentioned it is planning to bring more features in the coming days. Stay tuned for more updates.
