Possible Nothing Phone spotted on FCC listing, suggests a US launch | Tech Tips
Nothing could be planning a new product launch in the US market as a Nothing device, seemingly a smartphone that has been spotted on the FCC website. Earlier this day, we covered a leaked email from Nothing CEO Carl Pei outlining the company’s 2025 plans, like the Phone (3) and a landmark smartphone launch in Q1 2025. So, the timing of this listing appearance is interesting. Let’s see what it says:
Nothing Phone in US FCC
91mobiles has found this new Nothing device with model number 24111 on the FCC website. The device’s FCC ID is 2AZEQ-24111 and as per the device report website, it’s a smartphone. However, we think this is a temporary ID. Here’s why:
We have come across a power of attorney submitted by Nothing at the FCC, which says it doesn’t want to list the product on the FCC due to a change in its marketing plan. Nothing will be resubmitting the application later and once it is approved, the device will be sold and marketed under the updated FCC ID.
The products may appear with such placeholder IDs during the initial stages of FCC testing or when the product is a prototype or pre-release version and the manufacturers want to keep the final product details a secret.
Historically, the Phone (1) was snuck into the US without FCC certification and the Phone (2) was launched in the States with proper accreditation. The brand has also launched a slew of other products in the country. Nothing phones have a model number starting with the letter “A,” smartwatches have a model number starting with the letter “D,” and earphones have a model number starting with the letter “B”. The “24111” doesn’t start with any of these letters.
We’ll keep you posted as soon as we have an update about this. Meanwhile, from the leaked email, we have learned that Nothing is planning to launch the Phone (3) with AI and UI changes and a landmark smartphone launch in 2025. Stay tuned for more developments around this.
