The Redmi K80 series, consisting of the Redmi K80e, Redmi K80 and Redmi K80 Pro, is expected to go official soon in China as the successor of the Redmi K70 series. While the company has yet to reveal details regarding the upcoming phones, the design of the Redmi K80 and the expected launch timeline of the series have surfaced online. Additionally, camera specifications of the Pro variant have also appeared online. Here are the expected details of the Redmi K80 series phones.
Redmi K80 series launch timeline tipped
Tipster Smart Pikachu on Weibo posted that the Redmi K80 series will be launched in the home country by the end of November. However, the tipster did not share the exact launch timeline. To recall, the Redmi K70 series was also announced in China in late November 2023.
Redmi K80 design revealed
- An image of the alleged Redmi K80, shared by Wang Xiaoyan, Vice President of Xiaomi Group (via the tipster), shows the phone inside a protective case.
- The image reveals a new round camera island with three sensors instead of the rectangular camera module in the previous model, which had a square arrangement of sensors in the left corner.
- Notably, the design of the Redmi K80 series seems to be inspired by the Xiaomi Civi series, which also features a round camera module on the back.
- However, it is worth noting that the image does not reveal the complete design of the upcoming K-series smartphone.
Redmi K80 Pro camera details
A post on X reveals that the upcoming Redmi K80 Pro will offer a 50MP OmniVision Light Fusion 800 main camera, a 32MP Samsung S5KKD1 ultra-wide sensor and a 50MP Samsung JN5 2.6x telephoto sensor.
Notably, this would be a slight upgrade from the predecessor as it was launched with a 12MP OmniVision OV13B10 ultrawide camera and a 50MP OmniVision Light Fusion 400 2x telephoto sensor. Meanwhile, the primary camera will be the same.
Additionally, on the front, the Redmi K80 Pro is said to pack a 20MP OmniVision OV32B selfie sensor instead of the 16MP sensor on the predecessor.
Redmi K80 series: what to expect?
Though not confirmed, a recent report suggests the Pro variant will pack the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset compared to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset on the predecessor. Furthermore, it will be upgraded with a 6,000mAh battery, which is around 1,000mAh more than its predecessor.
While there might be a slight downgrade in the fast charging support with 100W charging from 120W, the company might also include wireless charging. However, we suggest you take these details with a pinch of salt as the company has yet to reveal details regarding the upcoming series.
