Leaked M4 MacBook Pro unboxing video gives us a first look at the Apple laptop ahead of launch | Tech Tips
Yesterday, there was news about a possible Apple event later in October headlined by a slew of Macs including the titular M4 MacBook Pro. Today, we have two leaked unboxing videos of the said MacBook, showcasing its design, key specifications, and Geekbench test result. Well, for what it’s worth, the videos have been reposted by the renowned Apple news specialist, Mark Gurman. He calls them “unprecedented”, and “unconfirmed, but looks fairly legitimate”.

The first video was from the Russian YouTube channel Wylsacom, wherein the host unboxes the 14-inch MacBook Pro (M4), shows what’s printed on the box, the in-box items, and then sets up the device.
Design-wise, the M4 MacBook Pro has a familiar boxy design like its predecessor. Weirdly enough, the wallpaper is also identical to the M3 MacBook Pro, which Apple usually changes every year.
Apple MacBook Pro M4 specifications
- Processor: Inside, the MacBook is driven by the yet-to-be-released M4 processor. As per the video, the chip has a 10-core CPU and a 10-core GPU. The M3 variant has an 8-core CPU in the base model.
- Memory: The base model is shown to have 512GB storage and 16GB RAM.
- Ports: The laptop has 3x Thunderbolt 4 USB-C ports, 1x HDMI port, 1x MagSafe socket, and 1x SD card slot.
The new MacBook seems to have a more powerful CPU, more RAM and an extra Thunderbolt port in the base model compared to its predecessor.

The YouTuber also ran Geekbench 6 on the machine (running on MacOS 15) and the result is below:
Apple MacBook Pro M4 Geekbench score
- Single-core score: 3,864
- Multi-core score: 15,288
- OpenCL GPU: 38,153
If you look up MacBook Pro 14-inch M3 on Geekbench, you’ll find a single-core score of 3,082, a multi-core score of 11,582, and an OpenCL GPU score of 30,332. So, there’s a notable jump in performance as per the leak.

As for this other leaked video, we get to see the About Mac section of MacOS settings which reveals the unit is a November 2024 model. So, this is pretty much the release timeline Gurman has been claiming.
Gurman thinks the same machine is floating around. Another leaker called it “probably the biggest warehouse leakage” they’ve ever seen. In any case, an Apple product leak like this is extremely rare, reminiscent of the 2010 iPhone 4 leak by Gizmodo. Interesting times, eh?
