But don’t fret, you may be in luck as Apple offers a price protection policy. However, there’s a catch. Read to know more.

Apple’s price protection policy

The Apple iPhone 16 series will be launching later today at a special event. There is a possibility of older iPhones receiving price cuts in India post the announcement. If that happens, this is bad news for those who have recently purchased the iPhone 15 at a higher price.

Now comes Apple’s price protection policy. If the company lowers the price of the products within 14 days from the date you purchased/received the product, the policy states that you are entitled to request a refund or credit for the difference: in the price you paid against the current selling price.

This means if you have purchased the iPhone 15 in the last two weeks and Apple slashes the price later today at the iPhone 16 event, you can claim the price difference.

How to claim the refund?

For customers seeking a refund, one can contact the Apple Store or Apple customer care service at 000800 040 1966 within 14 days of the price reduction. You may have to produce proof of purchase and in some cases, need to show that the device is still with you. 

For a refund to be applicable, the purchase needs to be done directly through the Apple retail store or their online store. The refund process is not applicable if the purchase is done through Amazon or Flipkart.

Do note the refund policy is not applicable to purchases done during limited-time sales, including promotions or holiday discounts. The price protection applies to only 10 units of the same product. Do note that if you have paid through an international credit card, the refund amount be affected by exchange rates and foreign conversion fees charged by the issuer of the card.
