Like last year, this time too, a Xiaomi phone will be the first to launch with the latest Qualcomm flagship mobile processor globally. Xiaomi 15 is confirmed to be the first Snapdragon 8 Elite phone in the global markets. Xiaomi announced this at the Snapdragon Summit following the new chip’s debut. Here’s when the phone will be launched and everything else we know about it.
Xiaomi 15 launch timeline
The Xiaomi 15 series will launch at the end of October.
Although Xiaomi had announced the Xiaomi 14 series would be the first to use Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, the vanilla Xiaomi 14 and Xiaomi 14 Pro were released in October 2023 the Xioami 14 Ultra was released in February 2024 only. So, we won’t be surprised if the company repeats the same launch strategy.
Xiaomi 15 processor, software
On stage, Xiaomi SVP Adam Zeng mentioned the company finds user experience as “the most important” aspect. Xiaomi 15 series will achieve this through Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC and HyperOS 2 software.
He also revealed the Xiaomi 15 series is poised to bring a 29.7 percent lower power consumption and 3 degrees Celsius cooler performance at peak temperatures.

The 8 Elite’s Oryon CPU has a top clock speed of 4.32 GHz and is said to deliver 44 percent improved CPU performance, 45 percent faster NPU (for AI), and 40 percent better GPU performance.
From a recent Geekbench listing (via MySmartPrice), we learned the phone is running on Android 15. So, that clears the base for HyperOS 2.
Xiaomi 15 Geekbench scores
On Geekbench, Xiaomi 15 was listed with the model number 24129PN74C. Here are the scores it achieved:
- Single-core: 3,180
- Multi-core: 10,058
This is way ahead of Xiaomi 14′s scores of 2,191 (single-core) and 6,705 (multi-core).
Rest, the listing reveals the tested model has 16GB RAM. The Xiaomi 14 also comes in up to 16GB RAM and 1TB storage.
Besides these, the Xiaomi 15 is expected to have a 6.36-inch 1.5K flat 120Hz AMOLED display, 5,500mAh battery+ 90W wired and 50W wireless charging, 50MP (OV50H) + 50MP UW + 50MP 3.2x telephoto zoom camera setup with Leica optics. You can read more about the Xiaomi 15 series here.
