Watch: Teardown video shows what’s inside the Apple Watch Series 10 | Tech Tips

Highlights
  • The smartwatch features a tad bit bigger copper sheet for heat dissipation.
  • Apple Watch Series 10 gets a poor repairability score.

Apple Watch Series 10 launched officially last month. This introduced new features and hardware upgrades over its predecessor. That’s on the outer. To show us what’s on the inside, folks at iFixit have now published a teardown video of the new Apple Watch Series 10 46mm to show us what the internals look like.

Apple Watch Series 10 is not easy to repair

The teardown starts by leveraging the gap between the display and the back chassis and applying heat. You can enter into the smartwatch by using a pry tool to separate both halves of the smartwatch. We are greeted with a large battery and almost as big a taptic engine on the front. The battery is held in place by a normal glue, nothing fancy. The display connector cables sit below the battery. There seems a tad bit bigger copper sheet for heat dissipation.

Despite the new screen, the Apple Watch is almost in the same place where it started internally. The video notes the sensor lens is not very fun to repair so the onus is on the glass to hold things in place. As a matter of fact, the size of the Apple Watch makes any repair very difficult.

The Apple Watch Series 10 has received a very poor rating/score of 3 out of 10 in the repairability aspect. This means the Apple Watch is not easy to repair and folks at iFixit hope the smartwatch gets replaceable battery cells in the near future, considering the ‘Right to Repairability’ has anything to say.
