Samsung’s first rollable phone with massive screen could launch in 2025 | Tech Tips
Samsung wasn’t the first company to release a foldable device but it seems like it might be the first to launch a rollable phone. A new report surfaced online suggesting that Samsung might be working on a rollable smartphone with a massive screen that could launch next year. Let’s check out everything we know about this upcoming Samsung rollable phone.
Samsung rollable phone in the works
According to Elec, Samsung is developing a rollable phone with a huge 12.4-inch screen when unfurled. That would be larger than other foldable phones currently available in the market, including the triple folding Huwaie Mate XT with its 10.2-inch display. Moreover, the phone will come with an under-display camera at the front for selfies and video calls.
The report also said that Samsung’s handset might be released in the second half of 2025, making it the first business to sell a rollable phone. To recall, Samsung has a rollable OLED screen, known as Rollable Flex, which is intended for smartphones, tablets, and other mobile devices. The OLED panel is wrapped into a considerably smaller space, although the actual rolled-up diameter is unknown. However, the display can be stretched out from 49mm to 254.4mm in size.
This won’t be the first time we’re hearing about a rollable phone, as this news comes after LG, TECNO, and OPPO all showed rollable phones. OPPO demonstrated its rollable prototype in 2021, while TECNO did so last year. Moreover, LG said it would launch a rollable phone but it exited the smartphone industry in 2021. We’ll have to wait and see if and when Samsung rolls out its rollable phone next year.
