Samsung patent reveals laptop with folding screen for rear cameras | Tech Tips

Samsung could launch a laptop with a folding screen in the future. A patent filed in 2020 has been published now revealing what Samsung has in plans for its future laptops. The patent is for a laptop where the top part of the screen folds bringing the rear cameras to the front side. The screen folds similarly to the Galaxy Z Flip 6 where the rear cameras work as selfie cameras with the cover display acting as the viewfinder.

• According to the images in the patent, we can see the top part of the laptop screen folding frontwards extending the display and bringing the rear cameras to the front as well. 
• It’s only the top strip of the laptop’s screen that folds frontwards. When pushed back, it looks like a normal laptop.
• It looks like the laptop has two cameras at the back, which would double as front cameras when the screen is folded.
• This would be good as most laptops have an average webcam for video conferences and meetings. With the focus here being on the extended and rear cameras, we can expect some high-quality sensors on the Samsung laptop.
• Otherwise, the overall design of the laptop is like every other model in the market. It’s only the folding display concept that’s striking in this patent.

Samsung offers laptops under its Galaxy Book lineup. These are Windows laptops with touchscreen displays, 360-degree flexibility, stylus pen support, and more. The latest patented design is something we could see on future Samsung laptops. This, however, doesn’t confirm that the design will be made official and there’s no word on when the laptop might launch in the market. 

Samsung has also patented a laptop design with an extendable screen. In this design, the laptop looks normal at first but the screen can be extended to the sides almost looking like a curved monitor. This too is another laptop design from Samsung that we can expect to see in the future.
