Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 reportedly has two variants in development | Tech Tips

This is the first time in six generations of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold lineup that there have been two variants of the Galaxy Z Fold 6 foldable. One is the regular Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 that debuted in June and the other is the Z Fold 6 Special Edition that launched in South Korea earlier this week. A new report now claims that the company might continue this trend for the next generation as well. 

A new Samsung foldable could be in the works

• As per the GalaxyClub report, Samsung is working on two variants of its next Z foldable, possibly dubbed the Galaxy Z Fold 7.
• The report cites the sources who revealed the codenames for the next foldable.
• The Flip foldable reportedly has the codename ‘B7′, while the Galaxy Z Fold 7 has the codename Q7. Interestingly, a new third model has also been discovered with the codename Q7M.

• The report claims the development of the Q7M model is running almost parallel to Q7-the standard foldable.
• This means we can forget about a new foldable launch from Samsung around early 2025. The first half of next year should be all about the regular S-series phones- Galaxy S25 series and other mid-range models from the brand.
• While it is natural to believe the Q7M could be the Galaxy Z Fold 7 Special Edition considering the connection in the codename series, there are chances it could be the rumoured tri-fold phone.

Recently it was reported that Samsung doesn’t have any plans to release a new product with a cheaper price tag in the Z Fold lineup. The Samsung engineer was quoted saying the brand wishes to expand user’s options” like with the Galaxy Fold 6 Special Edition. This can be seen as a hint at the Galaxy Z Fold 7 special edition model or possibly the tri-fold foldable like the Huawei Mate XT.

As per reports, Samsung is making plans to debut a tri-fold phone where the screen folds twice in 2025. Apparently, Samsung Display is said to have developed parts needed for such a tri-fold model and are ready to commercialise.

Either way, it appears that Samsung is working on more than two foldables for 2025 and more details may be unearthed in the weeks, if not months to come.
