Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 processor seemingly confirmed per a new development | Tech Tips

Highlights
  • Samsung could indeed be switching from Snapdragon to Exynos processor for its next-generation Z Flip foldables.
  • The report also states ‘premium models in the Z Flip series’.

The Galaxy Z Flip 7’s processor details have leaked in the recent past. Now, a new report out of South Korea puts all the rumours to rest by seemingly confirming the chipset on the next-generation flip foldables. The company could be shifting its chipsets strategy for its foldable phones that have always employed a Qualcomm processor. Additionally, the next year’s Galaxy Z Flip 7 is expected to come in standard and FE variants.

Leak hints at Exynos SoC powering the Galaxy Z Flip 7

  • South Korean publication Chosun Ilbo reports that Samsung has confirmed that it will employ the Exynos 2500 SoC on next-year’s clamshell flip foldables.
  • The company was facing challenges with the yield rates for 3nm architecture on which the Exynos 2500 will be based.
  • The chipset was first expected to power the upcoming Galaxy S25 series that is anticipated to debut next month.
  • In the latest development, Samsung’s senior official stated that it would be difficult to use the Exynos 2500 in the next-generation flagship S-series due to issues in mass production.
  • The yield process for 3nm is now said to be stabilised and the company is set to begin the mass production soon.
  • The executive added that this will enable the brand to use its in-house chipset in the premium models of the Z Flip series.
  • It’s worth noting that the Samsung official’s wordings hint at more than one device in the next-generation’s Z Flip.
  • This corroborates past rumours of the Z Flip 7 having an Exynos 2500 and the Z Flip 7 FE equipped with an Exynos 2400e.

The report does not mention anything about the Galaxy Z Fold 7. Samsung has stuck to Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon chipsets for its Galaxy Z foldable lineup since inception. It remains to be seen how the Exynos chipset will perform on the next year’s Galaxy Z Flip 7 if the report indeed turns out to be true. Samsung’s foldables launch in the second half of the year and there’s still time for things to change till then.
