Samsung’s rugged mid-ranged lineup debuted in India with the Galaxy XCover 7 (review) in February this year. Now, the South Korean brand is expected to announce the successor to the Galaxy XCover 6 Pro that released in 2022 but not in the country. This would also expand the XCover’s lineup. The next-generation Galaxy XCover 8 Pro’s battery has been spotted on the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) certification site.

This hints at the potential arrival of the device in the near future. To recall, the XCover 7 launched in India after its debut in the global markets. 

Samsung Galaxy XCover 8 Pro bags BIS certification

• The Samsung Galaxy XCover 8 Pro battery has been spotted on the BIS website with model number EB-BG766GBY.
• The certification listing does not reveal any additional details about the upcoming offering.
• The model number corroborates with a recent report which stated that Samsung is working on new XCover device.
• It is in line with the brand’s naming convention for its Galaxy XCover lineup. The XCover 6 Pro and XCover 7 have model numbers SM-G736B and SM-G556B respectively. 

The Samsung Galaxy XCover 8 Pro is expected to pack upgrades and improvements compared to the XCover 6 Pro. The South Korean brand’s XCover lineup is already known for rugged durability and military-grade certifications. The next-gen device’s exact specifications remain under the wraps for now.

• Processor, RAM, and Storage: The XCover 6 Pro is powered by Snapdragon 778G paired with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage.
• Battery: The device is backed by a 4,050mAh battery cell with support for 15W charging.
• Cameras: The XCover 6 Pro has a 50MP primary sensor along with an 8MP ultra-wide-angle unit. There is a 13MP front-facing selfie snapper.
• Connectivity and software: There is support for 5G, USB-C port, and headphone jack. The phone runs on Android 12 OS.
