Samsung Galaxy A16 and Galaxy A16 5G phones have been in the works for a while, with the launch date appearing to be around the corner. This will arrive as a successor to the Galaxy A15, which retails at Rs 15,499 for the 5G model. Before the official launch, the Samsung Galaxy A16 4G and 5G specifications have been leaked. Both models share similar hardware, except for the chipset and network support.

Samsung Galaxy A16 and Galaxy A16 5G specifications leak (via) suggest there are no major upgrades over the predecessor, except for the chipset, OS upgrade cycle and IP protection.

• Display: The Samsung Galaxy A16 and Galaxy A16 5G sport a 6.7-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate and 2340 x 1080 pixels resolution. This is a sizeable jump from a 6.5-inch AMOLED panel on the Galaxy A15 5G.
• Processor: The 4G version is powered by the MediaTek Helio G99 processor, while the 5G model could be equipped with the Exynos 1300/Dimensity 6300+ chipset, compared to the Dimensity 6100+ on the predecessor.

• OS: The phones will reportedly boot Android 14 OS and get six major Android OS updates and security patches for six years. This is a new benchmark for a phone in the mid-range segment.
• Cameras: The Samsung Galaxy A16 and Galaxy A16 5G will have a 13MP selfie snapper on the front. They could house a 50MP primary camera, a 5MP ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 2MP macro shooter. This is the same camera setup as the Galaxy A15 5G.
• Connectivity: 5G/4G, Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.3, NFC, USB Type-C, and GPS.
• Others: A side-mounted fingerprint reader and an IP54 for dust and water resistance.
• Battery: Both models could get a 5,000mAh battery with 25W fast charging support on board. For comparison, the Galaxy A15 5G also gets the same battery and fast charging speed.
• Dimensions: The Samsung Galaxy A15 4G measures 164.4 x 77.9 x 7.9 mm, while the 5G measures 164.4 x 77.9 x 7.9 mm. Both models weigh 200 grams.
