Reliance Jio Rs 458, Rs 1,958 voice and SMS-only plans launched to abide by TRAI’s guidelines | Tech Tips
Hot on the heels of TRAI’s latest mandate, Reliance Jio has introduced two new plans under its value offering that include only unlimited voice and SMS benefits. This has also resulted in some more changes. The move comes after Bharti Airtel announced standalone special tariff vouchers for voice calls and SMS. However, Jio’s pricing slightly undercuts its competitor. The TRAI’s new guidelines will benefit consumers who don’t need internet connectivity which make the voice and SMS-only packs more affordable.
Reliance Jio revises its value plans
- The newly introduced value plans are reflected on Reliance Jio’s official website.
- The cheapest pack is priced at Rs 458 with 84 days validity. It includes unlimited voice calling and 1,000 SMS benefit.
- The second plan costs Rs 1,958 and it will be valid for 365 days. Along with unlimited voice calling, this offers 3,600 SMS.
- Both plans come with access to JioTV, JioCloud, and JioCinema (premium is not included).
- As mentioned earlier, the base plan is cheaper than Airtel which cost Rs 499 for 84 days.
Prior to the changes, Reliance Jio offered three plans under its value category. The Rs 479 plan included total 6GB data for 84 days. With the removal of the data component, it has become cheaper by Rs 21 while retaining the rest of the benefits. It remains to be seen if the telecom operator will launch any new plans with data benefits under the value offering.
Yesterday, we reported that there would be a Rs 539 plan with 6GB total data and a validity of 84 days. The existing Rs 1,899 plan which is no longer visible on the website is expected to be hiked to Rs 2,249 with 336 days validity and 24GB total data. However, there’s no official announcement regarding this yet.
As of now, the cheapest Jio prepaid plan is priced at Rs 198 with 2GB daily data for 14 days. The previous pack of Rs 199 for 28 days and 2GB data a day is now hiked to Rs 299 for existing users but for new subscribers, it is Rs 349.
