Redmi Note 14 series teased ahead of launch; IP68 rating, improved durability confirmed | Tech Tips
The Redmi Note 14 series is expected to launch in China soon, probably in the latter half of the month. The phones in the series have made multiple stops at various certification platforms, including 3C, FCC, and IMEI. The lineup will succeed the Redmi Note 13 lineup which came with up to 120W fast charging support and a 200MP camera.
While we wait for the launch date, Redmi General Manager Thomas Wang without confirming the moniker has started teasing the arrival of the phone through a Weibo post.
Redmi Note 14 series launch date is yet to be revealed
- In a post on Weibo, the Redmi general manager confirmed the Redmi Note 14 series will have an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance.
- For context, the Redmi Note 13 Pro+ from last year came with an IP68 rating, while the regular Pro and vanilla Redmi Note 13 have an IP54 rating.
- In the post, the top executive exclaimed that there is an industry-standard where phones with a waterproof rating cannot be repaired if they are soaked in water.
- Changing that, while confirming the upcoming Redmi Note series phones will have an IP68 rating, Thomas Wang said that they are confident about the waterproof capabilities and asked whether they should consider adding a water damage warranty as well.

- In a separate post, Thomas Wang confirmed the new Redmi Note series will have strong drop resistance and better battery life much like how the iPhone 16 models are advertised.
- To recall, the Redmi Note 13 had a 5,000mAh battery + 120W fast charging support, while the Pro has a 5,100mAh cell and 67W fast charging.
It isn’t clear whether all models in the Redmi Note 14 series will get an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance or if it will be limited to just the top-tier model like with the Redmi Note 13 series. Though the launch date of the phones is not revealed at the moment, we expect the announcement might happen in the coming days and more such teasers should come our way.
