POCO F7 spotted on the GSMA database, global launch expected

POCO F7 spotted on the GSMA database, global launch expected | Tech Tips

A couple of months after launching the POCO F6, the company appears to have quickly jumped on to the successor: the POCO F7. But there should be a lot of time before the phone actually debuts. Recently, the POCO F7 Pro was spotted on the IMEI database, revealing the model number. Now, the vanilla POCO F7 has been spotted on the GSMA database platform.

POCO F7 leaks have started coming our way

  • The POCO F7 was spotted, courtesy of Xiaomi Time, on the GSMA database with two different model numbers: “2412DPC0AG” and “2412DPC0AI“.
  • The first model number appears to be meant for global markets, as detonated by ‘G’ at the end, while the second one could be for the Indian market.
  • The GSMA database confirms the marketing name of the phone as POCO F7 and the manufacturer as POCO.
  • Considering the POCO F6 is believed to be a rebrand of the Redmi Turbo 3, there are chances the successor could be a rebadge of its successor presumably, the Redmi Turbo 4.
  • The Redmi Turbo 4 is yet to debut and there aren’t any major leaks about the phone at the moment.

It’s too early to talk about the POCO F7 series launch since details about the phones have surfaced recently and the POCO F6 debuted only a couple of months ago.

The POCO F7 Pro could be a rebrand of the Redmi K80. The Pro version is said to have a codename ‘miro’ from the famous painter Joan Miro.

Not much is known about the POCO F7 at the moment. To recall, the POCO F6 comes with Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chipset. There are chances we might see the successor arriving with a similar s-branded version of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset (that is if the SoC is ever launched). This could be a slightly underclocked version of the standard chipset and should allow OEMs to launch phones that offer premium performance and are not as expensive as the regular flagships.

The POCO F7 Pro variant could come with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC, compared to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 on the predecessor. When the time the phone actually debuts globally, we might see phones with Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 SoC. Using a generation-old SoC will allow POCO to price their phones aggressively.

Considering the POCO F6 debuted in May in India, we can speculate the successor could also arrive around the same time next year, 2025. The Pro variant might not debut in India just like the POCO F6 Pro didn’t.
