OnePlus, OPPO phones in select markets get this exclusive Spotify feature | Tech Tips
OnePlus and OPPO have introduced a new feature in collaboration with Spotify. It’s a niche feature that might not appeal to everyone but can be very useful. OnePlus founder and OPPO’s Chief Product Officer, Pete Lau, announced that phones from these two brands will now show a Spotify app overlay while gaming. This feature is however rolling out only in select markets.
New Spotify feature for OnePlus, OPPO phones
Lau on X shared the announcement about OnePlus and OPPO phones getting this new Spotify feature. It’s part of the gaming tools available on these phones that let you access certain features and apps while playing games. Now the new feature will show a Spotify app overlay if you’re someone who likes to listen to music while gaming. This feature is available on OnePlus and OPPO smartphones in select markets including India.
The Spotify overlay now shows three different tabs: Recommended for Today’, your library, and the app’s home screen. It will show the Now Playing tab just below the tabs but you cannot go back to the previous song. You can only skip to the next one. The Recommended for Today tab even shows a playlist with the top gaming tracks. So you get a minimised version of Spotify without having to leave your game or open the app separately.

To access this Spotify feature while gaming, you’ll have to first add the app in the gaming mode and allow access to it. You can then swipe down below on the top right corner and access the gaming mode screen. Select the Spotify app to get the overlay on your screen and browse through different songs. You can tap anywhere on the screen to hide the Spotify screen.
