OnePlus Open 2 design revealed via newly leaked renders: here’s what’s different | Tech Tips
OnePlus Open 2 will be the second-gen foldable from OnePlus. The first Open debuted in October 2023 and although it’s been a while, we recently got news about its successor’s launch timeline. And now, the OnePlus Open 2 renders are also out, providing us the first look at the folding phone’s design. Let’s see what’s new and different both design and specs-wise.
OnePlus Open 2 design breakdown: what’s new
- Smartprix in partnership with Yogesh Brar and Chunvn has shared these Open 2 renders. The publication claims the Open 2 design is based on a late-stage prototype. This means the design could differ by the time the final edition is released. Let’s see.

- As part of the design refinement, the OnePlus Open 2 has become larger yet thinner than Open. The source claims the upcoming foldable is just 10mm thick. Meanwhile, the OnePlus Open was 11.7mm thick. This means the OnePlus Open 2 could be the slimmest folding phone contender when it eventually launches.
- Further, a functional upgrade could be its support for IPX8 water resistance. The Open only had an IPX4 rating.
OnePlus Open 2 specifications: what’s new
- Display: The OnePlus folding phone could sport an 8-inch 2K LTPO AMOLED inner screen with a 120Hz refresh rate and a 6.4-inch AMOLED outer screen.
- Processor: It could be engined by a Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC. This would offer a performance jump from Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 inside the precursor.
- Memory: The performance could be aided by up to 16GB of RAM and a generous 1TB of storage.
- Software: The phone could ship with OxygenOS 15 based on Android 15. We look forward to finding more multi-tasking and AI tricks.
- Cameras: On the back, there could be a 50MP main camera plus a 50MP ultrawide sensor plus a 50MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom. The front cameras could include a 32MP sensor and a 20MP sensor. The rear camera setup sees changes compared to the Open’s setup.
- Battery: The phone could be kept alive by a 5,900mAh cell backed by 80W wired charging and 50W wireless charging support. That would be a bigger battery with faster wired charging and addition of wireless charging.
OnePlus Open 2 is believed to be a rebranded OPPO Find N5 foldable. The latter is also yet to see daylight.
OnePlus Open 2 India launch (expected)
- The phone is expected to debut in China in early 2025 and then land in the global markets within Q1, 2025 itself.
- Since the predecessor is available in India, we expect the Open 2 to also arrive here eventually.
- There could be two memory configurations and two colour choices including a black/grey variant.
