OnePlus Ace 5 series officially confirmed, could be launching soon | Tech Tips

After multiple leaks and reports, OnePlus has officially confirmed the marketing name of its next Ace-series phone will indeed be the OnePlus Ace 5. The confirmation comes through a post on Weibo from the company’s China president, Li Jie Louis. The executive has also teased performance improvements.

OnePlus Ace is the brand’s premium segment that sits below the OnePlus numbered series flagship. The phones offer premium performance and designs.

OnePlus Ace 5 series is coming

• In the Weibo post, the OnePlus top executive says ‘OnePlus Ace 5 series‘, which means there will be multiple models in the lineup like last time.
• For context, the OnePlus Ace 3 included the OnePlus Ace 3, OnePlus Ace 3 Pro, and OnePlus Ace 3v.

• Furthermore, the executive also teases performance improvements over the previous generation models. He says the “Engineering team showed the performance test data, and the results are very exciting and it can almost be said that it is a generation’s performance ahead of the same class of products.”
• However, the executive hasn’t shared any specific launch timeline at the moment but leaks claim the OnePlus Ace 5 series will launch in China in December.
• For context, OnePlus Ace 3 debuted in China in January this year, while the Pro arrived in June. It appears that the company has a change of plans for the successors.
• We recently heard rumours that the company is also working on a small-screen flagship in the Ace series but this is tipped to arrive in Q2 2025.

OnePlus Ace 5 series: what we know so far

The OnePlus Ace 5 and Ace 5 Pro are tipped to feature a back panel design that is similar to the OnePlus 13. This means they should just house a large circular module to house the camera sensors. The phones may have a metal middle frame and possibly a ceramic rear panel. 

• Display: The OnePlus Ace 5 may house a 1.5K BOE flat display, while the Pro model could get a BOE X2 display. The screen size of the phones could be 6.78-inch much like the predecessor.
• Processor: The standard Ace 5 is said to get the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC, while the Ace 5 Pro is tipped to come with the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset.
• In comparison, the predecessors came with Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC and Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipsets, respectively. 
• Cameras: The OnePlus Ace 5 is tipped to feature 50MP + 8MP + 2MP triple cameras and a 16MP shooter on the front. This is the same combination as the OnePlus Ace 3.
• On the other hand, the OnePlus Ace 5 Pro may get a 50MP Sony IMX906 main camera and a 50MP ISOCELL JN1 telephoto sensor. 
• Battery: Rumours claim the OnePlus Ace 5 may get a 6,300mAh cell, while the Pro could get a 6,500mAh battery. Both are tipped to feature 100W fast charging.
• In comparison, the Ace 3 and Ace 3 Pro featured a 5,500mAh cell and a 6,100mAh battery, respectively. 

The standard model in the OnePlus Ace series is usually rebranded as the OnePlus R-series phone in global models, including India. There are speculations the OnePlus Ace 5 could debut as the OnePlus 13R and will arrive as a follow-up to the OnePlus 12R. However, the OnePlus Ace 5 Pro could be limited to the China market.
