The OnePlus Ace 5 series has debuted in China. One of the key differences between the two phones is that the Ace 5 runs on last-gen Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 while the Pro model is powered by the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC. The Ace series is generally a cut below the flagship numbered series and is limited to the Chinese market. However, the vanilla Ace 5 could launch globally as the OnePlus 13R, albeit with some differences.

So, here’s a quick look at everything the two Ace phones bring onboard.

OnePlus Ace 5, Ace 5 Pro China price, availability

• OnePlus Ace 5 price starts at 2,299 yuan (about Rs 26,900). 
• OnePlus Ace 5 has a starting price of 3,399 yuan (about Rs 39,700). 
• Both phones are available in five variants up to 16GB RAM + 1TB storage. Here’s a breakdown of its prices. 

• The Ace 5 is available in Cyan, Black, and Titanium colours while the Pro version comes in Purple, Black, and White variants.
• The pre-sale is now open. The sale in China begins on December 31st.
• Since the Ace 3 launched as the OnePlus 12R in India and other global markets, we expect to see the Ace 5 as the OnePlus 13R. The 13R is coming to India on January 7th, 2025. It is expected to bring a different camera setup (telephoto lens) and a smaller battery size.

OnePlus Ace 5 series: what’s new

• OnePlus Ace 5 has the biggest battery ever in a OnePlus phone: 6,400mAh (6,415mAh typical value). The Pro model has a 6,100mAh cell only. Previously, the OnePlus 13 had a 6,000mAh battery. These also have glacier battery tech for more efficient charging, longer life and stable voltage supply.
• The Ace 5 Pro sports “Fengchi Gaming Core,” which is said to be the industry’s first chip-level gaming technology.
• The phone’s GPU is said to be capable of driving native 120 FPS with 1080p visuals.
• To temper the heat, the Ace 5 comes with a 6004mm² single-layer vapour cooling heat sink, along with an under-display graphite heat dissipation film and an aerospace aluminium middle frame. Meanwhile, the Ace 5 Pro has 9925mm² VC cooling.
• The phones feature Bluetooth 5.4 which has a longer range (up to 400 meters) than Bluetooth 5.3. Similarly, the devices also have a Wi-Fi G1 chip tuned for gaming (Wi-Fi 7).
• Both are available in a ceramic finish also.
• They both boot Android 15 with ColorOS 15 skin. You get AI features (like photo editing) and a file-sharing solution with iPhone.
• Thanks to the underlying Snapdragon 8 Elite, the Ace 5 Pro has scored 3,218,978 on the AnTuTu test.
