New CMF by Nothing phone spotted on IMEI database: could it be the CMF Phone 2? | Tech Tips
After the Nothing Phone (2a), (2a) Plus and CMF Phone 1, Nothing seems to be silently working on bringing out the next batch of smartphones to the market soon. Recently, it was tipped that the brand is working on three new smartphones, which could be launched in the first half of 2025. Now, a new CMF by Nothing phone has been reportedly spotted on the IMEI database, shedding some light on the identity.
New Nothing phones could be launched soon
- The new CMF phone appeared, as spotted by SmartPrix, on the IMEI database with the model number ‘A001’.
- This comes after the Nothing ‘A059’ and ‘A059P’ were spotted on the database back in September.
- The IMEI/GSMA database listing of the ‘A001’ shows the brand as CMF by Nothing. It is speculated that the handset could be a CMF Phone 2, a successor to the CMF Phone 1.
- The alleged CMF Phone 2 is said to be powered by the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 chipset, compared to Dimensity 7300 on the CMF Phone 1.
- As for the ‘A059’, the report notes it is likely to be the Nothing Phone (3a). The same model number was recently spotted on the Geekbench platform and was believed to be the Nothing Phone (3).
- Meanwhile, the ‘A059P’ could be the Nothing Phone (3a) Plus considering the ‘P’ suffix denotes ‘Plus’ for Nothing. For context, the Nothing Phone 2a Plus bears the model number A142P.
- The latest developments suggest the alleged Nothing Phone (3a) and (3a) Plus are said to carry the codenames: ‘asteroids‘ and ‘asteroids Plus‘. Meanwhile, the alleged CMF Phone 2 is said to have the codename ‘galaga‘.
Nothing Phone (3a) cameras
The Smartprix report also shed light on the possible Phone (3a) alleged camera details.
- As per the report, the main camera of the Phone (3a) will have a 26mm focal length and is capable of recording 4K 60fps videos and slow-motion videos up to 480fps at 1080p.
- The camera is said to have support for Super Macro, Super EIS, and Super Night Modes. However, the names might change.
- The front camera is said to have a focal length of 29mm, 1080p recording at 30fps. This is a downgrade from the 60fps capability of the Phone (2a).
- The phone will reportedly not have support for high-resolution RAW photography but may come with in-sensor zoom.
- Since these are based on reports/leaks, we suggest you take them with a pinch of salt, for now.

The possible Nothing Phone (3a)’s Geekbench listing showed the phone may switch to a Snapdragon SoC this time. To recall, the Phone (2a) shipped with Dimensity 7200 Pro chipset. As per the benchmark platform, the Phone (3a) may come with a Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chipset. It has managed to score 1149 in the single-core round and 2813 in the multi-core segment.
Not a lot is known about the other two Nothing phones at the moment but since they are rumoured to debut in the first half of 2025, we should come across more such listings in the days to come. Like most Nothing phones, these too should be made available in India.
