iPhone users complain of weird sounds, voices coming from their phones; raise privacy concerns | Tech Tips
Several users across the globe have complained that they are hearing strange sounds and voices on their iPhones, likely due to potential bugs in iOS 18, which was announced this year. Notably, the users have described hearing conversations or sounds without any app activity, which raises questions about the possible causes of the issue and privacy concerns.
Weird sounds, voices coming from iPhones
- Recently, a user on Reddit named u/OkStrawberry26 shared an unusual experience involving phantom sounds on the iPhone 15.
- The user complained of hearing a man’s voice coming from the phone’s earpiece speaker suddenly, even when there was no application running on the device.
- According to the post, the voice appeared to be part of a conversation, which was abruptly interrupted by the sound of a car crash.
- Separately, another Reddit user said that while browsing Reddit, he heard what seemed to be the sounds of workers talking in a warehouse.
- Similar to the previous post by the Reddit user, no active applications were running on the device this time as well.
Glitches raise privacy concerns among iPhone users
While Apple has yet to acknowledge the issue officially, some users suggest that the issue could be linked to bugs in iOS 18. It is worth noting that these incidents have raised concerns among iPhone users, with many users questioning its cause and potential privacy risks.
This isn’t the first time, as several users have complained of phantom sounds from their devices in the past. In January of last year, a user wrote on Apple Discussions that he experienced a random “Duhdum” noise while using iMessage and Apple Music. Meanwhile, several users in the reply section stated they also have experienced similar issues.
Notably, Apple recently released iOS 18.2 Beta 3 and iOS 18.1, but neither mentions a fix for these issues. However, it is expected that affected users may receive a solution in the public release of iOS 18.2, which is expected to be released on December 9th.
