iPhone 17 may finally get design makeover with Google Pixel-like camera module, suggests leak | Tech Tips
iPhone 17 series leaks and reports have slowly started taking shape, with each development hinting at us on what to expect. It is said that this time there won’t be a Plus variant, instead, Apple will reportedly introduce a new Slim/Air model. Besides this, we’re also greeted with some key features/improvements of the next year’s models. Not much has been said about the design, until now at least as a new leak suggests a major design shift. Read along.
Alleged iPhone 17 design leaks
- Firstly, tipster DigitalChatStation on Weibo citing supply chain sources says that the iPhone 17 series, at least the Slim model, will get a brand new rear camera design.

- The render image shared shows a Pixel-like horizontal strip on the top to house the camera sensors. However, he says the lens arrangement could be different.
- This is a departure from the current square module on the left corner and offers freshness to the design of the iPhones, considering if Apple is indeed changing the design.
- Besides the camera module, the rest of the phone looks familiar, with a camera button on the right edge.
- Corroborating with the leak, a Weibo user ‘Schrodinger’s English short coo’ (translated) shared an alleged iPhone 17 frame.

- This too shows a similar Pixel-like horizontal camera island on the top-most edge of the back panel.
- According to the post, the ultra-wide-angle lens is placed in the middle “to give space to the front structured light.” This could probably mean the Face ID sensor.
This isn’t the only design overhaul the iPhone 17 series may get as reports from a while ago said that the iPhone 17 Pro Max may feature a smaller dynamic island, which technically means that Apple may have perfected a way to implement the Face ID sensor in a smaller area. There are also reports that Pro models may let go of the titanium body and adopt an aluminium body. However, there are contradicting claims as well.
Either way, it looks like Apple is considering tweaking the design finally with the upcoming iPhone 17 series. We should know more details soon.
