iPhone 17 Air and Samsung Galaxy S25 Slim might feature surprisingly small batteries, claims tipster | Tech Tips

The rumoured iPhone 17 Air and the Samsung Galaxy S25 Slim have been the talk of the town for the past month or so. Apple and Samsung are trying to prioritise design and sleekness with these smartphones. However, minimising the thickness will come at the cost of reducing the battery size and other drawbacks. Based on the latest leak, these phones might have smaller than anticipated batteries.

• According to Chinese tipster Digital Chat Station, the iPhone 17 Air and the Samsung Galaxy S25 Slim will both have batteries with a capacity between 3,000 to 4,000mAh. This might result in lower battery life unless the brands optimise the software to ensure battery efficiency. 
• Apple doesn’t officially reveal the battery capacity of iPhones but based on teardowns, the latest iPhone 16 houses a 3,561mAh battery. It offers solid battery backup at this size and if Apple is able to use a similar size battery in the iPhone 17 Air, we might not encounter battery issues. However, that seems unlikely given the sleekness of the device. 

• Recent leaks revealed the slimness of the iPhone 17 Air to be around 5.5mm at its thinnest point, which would be very similar to the latest 13-inch iPad Pro that has a thickness of 5.1mm.
• Other leaked specifications include a single 48MP rear camera, no physical SIM slot (only e-SIM) and an in-house 5G modem.
• The device will cost less than the Pro models and might be priced around $900, similar to the iPhone Plus models which it is expected to replace. The iPhone 17 Air is expected to launch alongside the iPhone 17 series in September this year.

• On the other hand, we have the Samsung Galaxy S25 Slim and its thickness is said to be between 6.1mm to 6.9mm range. Again, if this is true, it will be slimmer than the Samsung Galaxy S24 which features a 4,000mAh battery. As per the recent reports, Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC will power the device paired with 12GB RAM and it will run on Android 15 out of the box.
• While the Samsung Galaxy S25 Slim is expected to launch in May this year, there are chances that Samsung could tease the device at the Galaxy Unpacked event on January 22nd.
