iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Pro Max early Geekbench results are out: here’s what they say | Tech Tips
The iPhone 16 series is powered by the new in-house A18 chip with the Pro models running on the A18 Pro. Both the chips are similar but the A18 Pro has a 6-core GPU, while the A18 comes with a 5-core GPU. iPhone 16 Pro series reviews aren’t out yet so we don’t know about its detailed performance yet but its alleged benchmark scores are in.
The regular iPhone 16 and the iPhone 16 Pro Max have reportedly been spotted on Geekbench giving us an idea about how much faster the new A18 chips are.
iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Pro Max Geekbench scores
- The regular iPhone 16 was first spotted on Geekbench with the model number ‘iPhone17,3’, which according to previous leaks is said to be an identifier for the iPhone 16 series.
- On Geekbench, the iPhone 16 scored 3,114 in the single-core test and 6,666 in the multi-core test. If we compare it to the iPhone 15’s A16 Bionic, the single-core score is decent but the multi-core score isn’t impressive.
- The iPhone 15 scored 2,595 single-core points and 6,651 points in the multi-core test. So the difference in the multi-core is less if we’re talking about a boost in performance.
- The iPhone 16 Pro Max’s Geekbench results were better though with 3,409 single-core points, and 8,492 multi-core points. The iPhone 15 Pro Max’s early Geekbench results showed 2,846 single-core points and 7,024 multi-core points.
- The scores clearly show that there is a significant improvement in terms of performance, at least on Geekbench.

The iPhone 16’s Geekbench results are surprising as Apple had said the A18 is 30 percent faster than the A16 Bionic, while the GPU is 40 percent faster. We’re expecting more tests for better clarity. As for the A18 Pro chip that powers the iPhone 16 Pro models its CPU is 15 percent faster, while the GPU is 20 percent faster than the A17 Pro.
Since these are the first tests, we should wait for more proper benchmark results. The iPhone 16 series has been launched in India with pre-orders starting on September 13th and the sale on September 20th.
