Apple has launched the new iPad mini (7th generation) with support for Apple Intelligence globally. The much-awaited update comes after 3 years since its predecessor, which was introduced with a brand-new design. This version focuses on improving performance and brings certain specs on par with other models in Apple’s lineup. Here’s all you need to know, including the Indian pricing of the latest tablet.

Here are the full specifications of the new 7th-generation iPad mini.

• Chipset: The new iPad mini 7th generation model features an A17 Pro chipset, borrowed from last year’s iPhone 15 Pro series. Compared to its predecessor’s A15 chipset, the A17 Pro provides a 30% boost in CPU performance, a 25% jump in GPU performance and a 2X faster neural engine. It now supports hardware-based ray tracing and AAA games.
• Apple Intelligence: The new iPad mini supports Apple Intelligence and suites of features such as Image Playground, Writing Tools and more, which will be available to the public soon with the iPadOS 18.1 update.
• RAM and Storage: The tablet is expected to feature 8GB of RAM to support Apple Intelligence. Apple has doubled the storage capacity of the base variant from 64GB to 128GB, reduced the price tag for the 256GB variant and introduced a new 512GB option.
• Connectivity: It supports the faster WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3 standards and an optional cellular variant with an eSIM. The new iPad mini has a 2X faster USB-C port with 10Gbps data transfer support.
• Cameras: The 12MP main camera on the back now supports Smart HDR 4 for better picture quality. It can record videos in 4K 60FPS. A 12MP ultrawide camera is on the front with support for Center Stage and 1080P 30FPS video recording. Surprisingly, Apple has kept the cameras in portrait orientation.
• Display: Same 8.3-inch (2,266 x 1,488p) Liquid Retina display with P3 wide colour gamut, Antireflective coating and True Tone. It supports the new Apple Pencil Pro with Hover functionality.
• Battery: Apple promises a 10-hour battery life like the last generation model.

Starting today, the new iPad mini can be ordered from the Apple Online store and premium retailers. It will be available for general sales and deliveries starting Wednesday, October 23rd. The tablet comes in a new shade of Blue, replacing Pink from the previous model and a lighter shade of Purple. Starlight and Space Gray colour options remain for others.
