iOS 18.2 may come with a new ‘BatteryIntelligence’ feature | Tech Tips
Apple released iOS 18.2 beta 2 for developers yesterday. The stable version is expected to roll out to the public next month. Folks at 9to5Mac dug into the iOS 18.2 beta 2 code and found a new battery-focussed feature that the company is reportedly working on. The Cupertino-based tech giant has already released helpful battery health features for iPhones in the past. The newly spotted feature would be the latest in the list of additions.
iPhone’s new battery feature
As per the publication, the new framework is called ‘BatteryIntelligence’. It will let you know how much time it will take to charge the iPhone. The estimated time will reportedly be based on the amount of energy being received by the device. It will also depend on the specific battery level setting selected by the user. The feature was spotted in the recently released beta version. Hence, it appears to be disabled and unfinished. The report adds that Apple may release it in the future version of software updates.
Notably, the upcoming feature is similar to macOS on MacBooks. Users can view the estimated time to fully charge the device in the battery icon in the menu bar when the Mac is connected to a power supply.
Some other helpful battery health features on iPhones include optimised charging settings to conserve the lifespan, usage of a slow charger, and battery cycle count.
Apple has already confirmed that iOS 18.2 will bring various new features mainly Apple Intelligence like ChatGPT integration in Siri, genmoji, image playground, image wand, visual intelligence, and writing tools.
