Huawei Mate XT tri-folding phone teaser video reveals design ahead of launch, price tipped | Tech Tips

Huawei is launching its first tri-folding phone on September 10th. This phone has a tri-folding design so the phone has three displays when opened up to form a large tablet-like device. The Huawei Mate XT was spotted with the company CEO Richard YU giving us a glimpse of the foldable. Now, the brand has revealed a teaser video showing off the Huawei Mate XT’s design.

Huawei Mate XT teaser video

  • The Huawei Mate XT tri-folding phone was teased through a promo video shared on Weibo. Here, we get a good glimpse at the tri-folding phone’s design.
  • It can be seen in Maroon colour with a vegan leather back and an octagon-shaped camera module similar to the Huawei Mate 60 RS Ultimate.
  • The teaser video also shows a glimpse of the Huawei Mate XT completely unfolded. It looks like a large tablet but the overall build looks quite slim for a foldable.
  • There’s a leaked image on Weibo that shows an alleged Huawei Mate XT folded and here too, the foldable looks slim. It also shows a physical fingerprint sensor located on the side of the phone.

Huawei Mate XT price: what to expect

The Huawei Mate XT is expected to come with 16GB of RAM and 512GB board storage. The tri-folding phone could unfold to a 10-inch display. It could launch in a single variant and the smartphone will reportedly cost CNY 16,888 (Rs 1,99,844) in China. There’s no word on whether the Huawei Mate XT will launch in other markets. It’s still a big leap for Huawei to be the first brand to commercially launch a tri-folding phone.

Tecno had also recently showcased its ultra-thin tri-fold concept smartphone. The Tecno Phantom Ultimate 2 measures 11mm and is claimed to be the thinnest tri-folding smartphone. It looks like a regular phone with a 6.8-inch display but unfolds to a large 10-inch display when unfolded. In addition to Tecno and Huawei, Xiaomi is also said to be working on tri-folding phones.
