Chinese smartphone maker Huawei launched several new products in the country, including the Huawei Mate 70 series, Mate X6 foldable, and MatePad Pro. This feature is designed to simplify file sharing between devices. Here’s more about the gesture-controlled file transfer feature.

  • While these devices are now officially launched, Huawei CEO of the Consumer Business Division, Richard Yu, posted a video of this feature just a day before the launch.
  • The video preview highlights the Air Transmission feature, which allows for seamless content transfer between devices.
  • The Connected Access Screen Gesture Trigger Recognition through palm grab allows users to transfer content from one device to another.
  • The Mate 70 series also features Magic Gesture Operations, enabling hands-free navigation of e-books, app switching, and page-turning through air gestures.

The newly introduced Huawei devices also have the AI Gesture AirDrop technology, which is powered by HarmonyOS NEXT OS. This feature uses an Always-On camera to facilitate content sharing through air gestures, enhancing device interaction.

Notably, Apple devices offer similar functionality, where users must physically touch the screen to grab and transfer content between devices. It’s unknown whether Huawei’s new gesture-controlled feature requires users to be logged into the same account on both devices for file transfer.
