HMD Barbie flip phone design, specifications revealed through TENAA listing | Tech Tips
The HMD Barbie flip phone is launching on August 28th. It was first announced at MWC earlier this year with the launch finally taking place this month. HMD has only revealed a teaser image that shows a glimpse of the bright pink Barbie phone. Now, an alleged Barbie flip phone has appeared on TENAA revealing its complete design and specifications.
HMD Barbie flip phone spotted on TENAA
- The HMD Barbie flip phone has been spotted on China’s TENAA certification site with the model number TA-1681. The images on TENAA are proof that this is indeed the Barbie flip phone.
- We can see the Barbie logo on the phone along with the HMD branding at the back and inside. As expected, the Barbie flip phone does seem to be based on the Nokia 2660 Flip phone.
- It has a hot pink back panel and inside is a mix of light and dark pink on the physical keypad. Up front, the HMD Barbie flip phone has a secondary display.
Its specifications have also been leaked along with the design. According to the TENAA listing, the HMD Barbie flip phone will feature a 2.8-inch primary TFT display (240×320 pixels) and a 1.77-inch secondary TFT display (128×160 pixels). It will be powered by a single-core 1.05GHz chipset with 64MB RAM and 128GB storage. This can be further expanded to 32GB.
The Barbie flip phone also has a single rear camera with LED flash. It will also come with Bluetooth support according to the listing. The specifications are similar to the Nokia 2660 Flip phone suggesting that it could be the same device. We should know more once the Barbie flip phone debuts later this month.
The Nokia 2660 Flip phone comes with dual SIM and 4G support so the Barbie version is expected to get these features too. There’s no word on whether the Barbie flip phone will launch in India.
