here’s how it compares to iPhone 15 Pro Max’s A17 Pro chipset | Tech Tips
Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 will be the next flagship chipset that will power Android flagships starting later this year. This will look to take on Apple’s A18 SoC, which will be introduced with the Apple A16 series. Ahead of the Qualcomm Summit, which is due for later this year, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 has appeared on the Geekbench benchmarking platform.
Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 will take on Apple A18
- The Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 SoC has appeared on the benchmark platform (via) with the codename ‘Manufacturer Model’.
- The SoC was able to score 2,884 points in the single-core score and 8,840 in the multi-core segment. The benchmark results appear to be based on a reference device.
- For comparison, the iPhone 15 Pro Max with A17 Pro has managed to score 2,846 in the single-core round and 7,024 multi-core points on Geekbench.
- The alleged Apple A18 Pro is rumoured to have pulled off a whopping 3,500 points in single-core test and 8,200 points in multi-core test. However, we can’t confirm the authenticity of the same yet.
- The Geekbench results show the chipset is an octa-core processor with 6 cores clocked at 2.78Hz and two cores ticking at 4.09Ghz.
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 SoC will be based on TSMC’s newest N3P 3nm process. The reference device that appeared on Geekbench boots Android 15 OS and has 12GB RAM on board. There are chances the chipset will/could be capable of scoring quite high with proper optimisation from OEMs and with a higher amount of RAM.
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 will reportedly ship with the new custom core architecture i.e. custom Oryon CPU cores paired with a new Adreno GPU generation. this is tipped to bring a major speed boost. The Adreno 750 GPU on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is apparently faster than the graphics on Apple’s A17 Pro SoC in the iPhone 15 Pro Max.
