Google opens 3 new walk-in service centres for Pixel users in India; Pixel 8 production begins in India | Tech Tips
Google seems to be increasing its focus on India by expanding retail, after-sale service and production of Pixel 8 in India. There will be three new walk-in centres in the country. The Pixel 9 series will be sold through more outlets. And well, Google keeps its promise to the Government of India by starting the Made in India Pixel 8 production.
Google Walk-In Center
In its Pixel 9 series announcement post on its India blog, Google revealed it’s opening these stores in Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru.
- The Delhi and Bengaluru Google service centres will open on August 15th.
- The Mumbai Walk-In Centre will open soon.
These Walk-In Centers will have “highest levels of service for their products” from “highly-trained staff”. Google assures same-day resolution for “many cases”.
They provide service for Pixel phones, watches, buds, Fitbit and Nest devices, regardless of where they are purchased from and whether they are out of warranty or not.
You can take in these products for repairs, replacements, and general inquiries.
The search giant has partnered with Flipkart’s service arm, F1 Info Solutions and Services Private Limited to set up these centres in India.
Speaking of partnership and India:
Made in India Pixel 8 production
As announced at last fall’s Google for India event, Google has started the production of the first batch of Pixel 8 in India. Techcrunch reports it is only making the vanilla Pixel 8 for now. Google’s global manufacturing partner Compal Electronics is working with Dixon Technologies (India) Limited for this endeavour.
Excited to announce that the first of our Made in India Google #Pixel8 devices have started rolling off the production lines 🥹

This setup reportedly has a production capacity of 100,000 units a month, and 25-30 percent of the output will be exported. Let’s see if the local production results in any price benefit for Indian customers.
Besides these two developments, Google has also brought the new Pixel 9 Pro Fold to India. Since the last-gen Pixel Fold didn’t launch in India, people in the country can finally experience a Pixel foldable.
The new Pixel products will be retailed through more than 150 Croma and Reliance Retail stores in 15 cities across India. The Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro XL will be available from August 22nd, while the Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro Fold will arrive in September.
