Google officially releases Android 15 but your Pixel phones may not get it yet | Tech Tips
Google has officially released the Android 15 source code and also confirmed the update will be available to Pixel models in the coming weeks. AOSP means that developers can work with the new platform. Android 15 will be rolling out to phones from various brands like Motorola, Nothing, OnePlus, OPPO, Samsung, iQOO, and others.

- Recent reports claimed that Google will be releasing Android 15 stable for Pixel phones in October and going by the current happenings, it looks quite possible.
- Besides Pixel phones, OEMs should soon release the list of devices that will be getting the update and the timeline at which the update will be rolled out.
- Some brands should soon start public beta preview tests before the stable versions are released. This will help them iron out any bugs.
- If you are a Pixel user and can’t wait for the stable release, you can try the Android 15 QPR (quarterly platform release) beta program but do note there will be bugs and might not be suitable as a daily driver.
Google released the September 2024 security update based on Android 14 for Pixel 6 and above models. This is said to remove third-party APK to address security vulnerabilities and also fixes Wi-Fi stability and performance in certain situations.

Android 15 brings some notable improvements to the media control and camera experience. The split-screen functionality is improved and now allows users to save their favourite app combinations for quick access The update also improves support for large screens, which will make it easier to switch between apps on tablets or foldables.
Android 15 also brings camera improvements such as Low Light Boost for better image previews in dark lighting conditions and there’s also precise flash intensity control. Android 15 also introduces Private Space, which as the name suggests creates a private space to secure sensitive apps or data. The update also makes it clear when an app is being recorded for better safety.
Look-wise, Android 15 looks a lot similar to previous versions, with changes coming to the functionality side. With the update, Google now allows users to screen-record just an app window rather than the entire screen. It also brings support for Satellite Connectivity, which is steadily finding its way to top-end flagships.
