Highlights
  • Flipkart reportedly cancelled orders wherein users were getting massive discounts.
  • These discounts were from Flipkart’s FireDrops platform.
  • Flipkart has yet to release an official statement on this.

Flipkart will have its biggest sale event of the year dubbed Big Billion Days from September 27th. Unfortunately, a week before it, #FlipkartScam is trending on X (formerly Twitter), with some posts also appearing on Reddit alleging unexpected order cancellations on Flipkart. Let’s see what has happened.

Flipkart online backlash over cancellations

Starting September 17th, some posts began appearing on X, claiming that Flipkart cancelled their orders for the Moto G85 5G, offered at a 99% discount through Flipkart’s FireDrops platform.

FireDrops is Flipkart’s Web 3.0 platform that gives users NFT-based rewards for engaging with brands.

Users allegedly tried to redeem these FireDrops reward points against the Motorola phone. They have claimed that the Flipkart seller named Grahgoods Retail first accepted and dispatched the order but then cancelled it midway.

An aggrieved party with X handle @Gautamguptagg has shared a screenshot of the FireDrops offer, which states “Flat 99% Off” as part of the ‘FireDrops Earned Reward’ from ‘September 16th to October 31st’.

He also shared the screenshot of his chat with Flipkart support, and here’s the latter’s response: “When you placed the order, the seller had quoted the product price incorrectly. As a result, we had to cancel your order on 17th September.”

Another X user named @VaibhavguptaTF was told the cancellation was because of “an unforeseen error”.

A user who faced the order cancellation due to “wrong MRP” took the issue to the LegalAdviceIndia subreddit:

Flipkart Support’s X handle has responded to these posts requesting users to get in touch with the company via DM (Direct Message on X).

Meanwhile, another X user claims they didn’t receive the order but it was marked as ‘delivered’. We are not sure about the product in this case.

A user also claims this happened while ordering an iPhone 15 Pro Max.

Flipkart has yet to release an official statement on this.
