BookMyShow app crashes moments before Coldplay India event ticket sales go live | Tech Tips

Update at 12:38 PM: The BookMyShow app is back now. Fans are trying their luck at booking tickets despite long wait times in queues.

The BookMyShow app crashed minutes before the Coldplay: Music of the Spheres India event tickets went on sale. Fans who were eager to buy tickets to the Coldplay concert in India in January could not log into the app with a message flashing that it was ‘Unable to connect to server’. This suggests the servers went down right before the Coldplay tickets were to go on sale on Sunday, September 22nd at 12 PM. The app continued to stay down for several minutes after 12 PM.

Coldplay fans were dismayed as they were unable to book tickets to the concert that is scheduled to take place in D.Y. Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai on Saturday, January 18th and Sunday, January 19th. They took to social media platforms like Twitter to express their anger with BookMyShow.

It seems ticket scalpers who managed to buy tickets through BookMyShow are now selling them at extremely high prices on third-party ticketing websites. While the ticket prices start from Rs 2,500 on BookMyShow, a website called Viagogo is selling them for a starting price of Rs 96,300 going as high as around Rs 2,69,000 at the time of writing this article.

The BookMyShow app started working roughly 30 minutes past noon. Fans trying to book tickets had to wait in long queues “due to heavy traffic.”
