Airtel replaces Wynk Music with Apple Music, offers Apple TV+ for Airtel Xstream users | Tech Tips



Airtel has discontinued the Wynk Music service and will offer Wynk Premium subscribers Apple Music instead. The telecom operator has also announced Apple TV+ for its customers. Yes, Bharti Airtel has entered into a strategic partnership with Apple to bring exclusive Apple Music and Apple TV+ offers to its users in India. Here’s what we know about this Airtel Apple partnership:


Airtel shuts down Wynk Music

As per PTI, Airtel is winding up the Wynk Music business in a few months and will absorb all its employees. However, Wynk Premium users need not worry as Airtel has a fallback option in Apple Music.

Although Wynk reportedly had around 20 percent market share in the Asia Pacific region (source: Deutsche Bank), it has had stiff competition from foreign players like Spotify, YouTube Music, and Apple Music, of course.

Airtel Apple partnership: Apple Music and Apple TV+

First, the current Wynk Music Premium subscribers will get an Apple Music subscription. Apple Music is one of the leading music streaming platforms out there. Compared to Wynk Music’s 24 million Songs library, Apple Music has 100 million songs. You also get superior audio features like Spatial Audio with Dolby Atmos and Lossless Audio and other benefits like Apple Music Sing and time-synced lyrics

Not only that, Airtel Xtream fibre will come with the Apple TV+ catalogue (including ad-free Apple Originals, 4K HDR video with immersive Spatial Audio) besides the large-screen video content it already offers. You could recharge with Airtel Wi-Fi and postpaid plans and get this Apple TV+ subscription.

Both these Apple services will be available to Airtel users later this year. The plan pricing and other details are yet to be disclosed.

As a side note, Apple TV+ and Apple Music costs Rs 99 per month each for an individual user. If the user opts for the Apple One bundle, they get Apple TV+, Apple Music, iCloud+, and Apple Arcade for Rs 195 a month.
