ASUS ROG Phone 9 FE grabs multiple global certifications, launch imminent | Tech Tips
ASUS already launched the ROG Phone 9 and ROG Phone 9 Pro globally back in November, 2024. There were rumors of the company planning on releasing a more affordable variant of the ROG Phone 9 under the FE moniker. The device was listed on a few certification websites last year. The same device has finally resurfaced on a few other certification platforms in a couple of countries which hints at its global launch.

- The listing reveals the name of the device as ASUS ROG Phone 9 FE.
- While there is no official information about the specifications of the device, it is said to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC.
- This is an educated guess made by comparing the model numbers of ASUS ROG Phone 8 with the ASUS ROG Phone 9 FE as both of them have the same AI2401 model number.
- For those unaware, FE usually stands for “Fan Edition” (used by Samsung) which is a relatively affordable smartphone model based on the flagship series from a company.
- It makes sense for the company to release the cheaper variant with an older chipset as it will save costs. Moreover, despite being a year old, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 has enough power to run most tasks with ease.
Just to recall, the ASUS ROG Phone 9 FE was earlier spotted on GSMA and Wi-Fi alliance in November 2024. The listing revealed that the device will support 2.4GHz, 5GHz, and 6GHz Wi-Fi bands and even Wi-Fi 6 Miracast that allows high-res image/video transfer between Wi-Fi devices. The device was being tested on Android 14 but we expect it to launch with the latest version of ROG UI based on Android 15.
The ASUS ROG Phone 9 was launched globally in November 2024 at 1,099 EUR (around Rs 98,500) while the ROG Phone 9 Pro cost 1,300 EUR (about Rs 1,16,500). As the ROG Phone 9 FE is expected to be a relatively more affordable smartphone, we can expect it to be priced lower than its elder siblings.
The ASUS ROG Phone 8 Pro arrived in India in mid-2024, so the launch of the successors is due anytime now.
