Samsung tri-fold phone to launch alongside Fold 7, Flip 7, Flip FE in Q3 this year: report | Tech Tips
Samsung launched its first foldable in 2019 and its first flip phone in 2020. Since then it has been releasing successors to both these devices. However, there haven’t been any radical changes to these smartphones. However, Samsung is set to expand its foldable range this year to include its tri-fold phone (triple-folding) this year. It will also release the seventh generation of Z Fold and Z Flip devices along with a Fan Edition of the Z Flip. Here’s everything we know about the upcoming foldable smartphones from Samsung.
Samsung foldables 2025: tri-fold and Z Flip FE
- As per a video by Korean publication The Elec, Samsung will be launching four foldable smartphones this year, compared to its regular two foldables in the past years.
- This will likely include the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Galaxy Z Flip 7, a Z Flip FE and a triple-folding phone.
- The most interesting from this lot is certainly the triple-folding unnamed Galaxy (?) because it’s going to be a slightly different product when compared to its usual foldable phones.
- Sources claim that Samsung will produce only 2,00,000 units of this device. If this is true, the availability of this device will be very limited.
- Production is supposed to begin in the second quarter of 2025 (between April to June) and the device is expected to launch in the third quarter of 2025.
- The primary display is expected to be around 9.9 to 10 inches when unfolded and could be up to 15mm thick in its folded form.
- As of now, only Huawei has a commercially available tri-fold phone called the Huawei Mate XT, which retails in China at RMB 19,999 (approx Rs 2,35,900) after launching in September last year.
- Meanwhile, Samsung Galaxy FE lineup is usually a slightly cut down (specifications) version of the flagship Galaxy devices which helps reduce the price and make the device a lot more affordable. If Samsung releases the Galaxy Z Flip FE, it might help make foldables mainstream as the lower prices will make these devices accessible to the masses.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 specs (expected)
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 is expected to be thinner than its predecessor and even the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 Special Edition which is just 10.6mm thick. The company might achieve this by skipping the S-Pen digitiser like they did with the aforementioned special edition.
