iOS 19 to bring redesigned Camera app with visionOS-like UI, suggests first leak | Tech Tips
iOS 18 released a few months back but details about iOS 19 are already out. With iOS 18, Apple added new customisation options and features for apps like Photos, Journal, and Notes. iOS 19 might bring some major design changes starting with the Camera app. The new Camera app in iOS 19 will reportedly borrow elements from the visionOS.
Redesigned Camera app in iOS 19
- In a YouTube video, Jon Prosser (Front Page Tech) has shared a preview of the redesigned Camera app in iOS 19.
- It’s supposed to be a complete redesign with a much cleaner look with a translucent background. Now there are just two options for Photo/Video, which you select to get more features like depth, spatial, pano, and style.
- The Video button has additional features like slo-mo, timelapse, and action. On top, you can now adjust the resolution and frame rate.
- Prosser adds that the redesign isn’t new and has been borrowed from visionOS, which Apple uses for Vision Pro. He adds that the redesign could extend to iOS 19 overall with the UI looking more like visionOS.
- iOS has been pretty much the same for years with minimal design changes but the last few updates have given users customisation over the entire UI. The new visionOS-inspired UI would be a major change for iOS.
The video above shows a recreated design for the Camera app in iOS 19. The final look might look different but it gives us an idea of what to expect from the next update. iOS 19 will release later this year around the iPhone 17 launch. But we should get an early look at the major changes at WWDC in June.
There was also a leak about the possible list of devices for iOS 19. These include older models like iPhone 11 and iPhone XR, and even the iPhone SE 2020. Apple is known to offer software support even to very old models.
