OnePlus Open 2 aka OPPO Find N5 launch timeline teased, said to be the thinnest foldable in the world | Tech Tips

OPPO Find N3 launched in 2023 and was globally launched as OnePlus Open the same year. Now, after a year-long break, we will be seeing their successors in 2025. OPPO has revealed the launch timeline for the Find N5 (No N4 due to Chinese beliefs). The brand has also teased its thin design. Meanwhile, Chinese tipsters have shared some secrets about the N5 and its sibling the OnePlus Open 2. Here’s everything we know:

OnePlus founder and OPPO Chief Product Officer Pete Lau (Liu Zuohu) has posted on Weibo that the world’s thinnest foldable flagship OPPO Find N5 will launch in February. 

The phone could be rebadged and launched globally as OnePlus Open 2 in between March and June.

The teaser poster shows the phone is slimmer than a pencil. A standard wooden pencil is 7-8mm thick. So, from the looks of it, the phone could be about 4mm thick in the unfolded state. That means the phone could be below 10mm thick in the folded state.

In reply to his post, ColorOS design director Chen Xi said, “The actual experience is even thinner than the sensory experience in the picture“. 

Tipster Digital Chat Station (DCS) has corroborated this claim saying the N5 will be the thinnest folding phone in the world. The Honor Magic V3 has this title right now.

DCS says the Find N5 is made of Titanium. We get a sense of this finish in Mr Lau’s post.

Another tipster Smart Pikachu has claimed the Find N5 has an industrial design focussing on durability. This tipster also backs the thin and light build of the phone.

It is said to sport three cameras including a Hasselblad periscope zoom lens, satellite communication, Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC, about 6,000mAh battery, and wireless charging support.

Other rumoured specs include IPX8 certification, 80/100W wired charging, 50W wireless charging, Android 15-based ColorOS software, a 6.85-inch 1.5K-2K LTPO display inside, NFC, a side-mounted fingerprint reader, and a 50MP main camera+ 50MP ultrawide+ 50MP (3x optical zoom) on the back.
