Samsung Galaxy S25 series to feature Snapdragon chipset; improved night videography tipped for S25 Ultra | Tech Tips

Highlights
  • The entire Galaxy S25 might use Snapdragon and in all markets.
  • Qualcomm has confirmed its presence for Unpacked 2025.
  • Galaxy S25 Ultra’s nightography upgrade might be an exclusive one.

The Galaxy Unpacked 2025 is scheduled for January 22nd and we’ll most likely see the Galaxy S25 series launch at this event. Official details are under wraps but Qualcomm may have confirmed Snapdragon chipsets for the Galaxy S25 lineup. This is important as there have been several rumours and reports about Samsung adopting Qualcomm for the entire Galaxy S25 lineup in all markets.

Qualcomm confirms Snapdragon chipset for Galaxy S25 series

  • Samsung’s X post about the Galaxy Unpacked event was reposted by the official Qualcomm handle saying, “See you there.”
  • This confirms Qualcomm’s presence at the event and possibly a spot at the launch event as well.
  • It also sparks interest as Samsung is expected to use Snapdragon chipsets for all Galaxy S25 models and in all markets. It usually adopts an Exynos+Snapdragon strategy for its flagship lineup.
  • We’ll have to wait for the official launch to see if Samsung does switch to Qualcomm for the Galaxy S25 lineup. The chipset in question would be the Snapdragon 8 Elite.
  • This might however lead to a price hike for the Galaxy S25 lineup as Qualcomm is reportedly charging $190 (around Rs 16,300) for each Snapdragon 8 Elite AP (application processor) that will be used on the Galaxy S25 series.

New Galaxy S25 Ultra leak

Tipster IceUniverse shared an update on Weibo (via) about the Galaxy S25 Ultra having an “improved nighttime video quality”. This feature however might stay exclusive to the Galaxy S25 Ultra as it’s dependent on the processor and won’t be available on the S24 Ultra, according to the tipster. How exactly this feature will work hasn’t been detailed in the leak. The Galaxy S25 Ultra is already known for its camera prowess so any improvement should get fans excited.

The tipster also shared an update about the 16GB Galaxy S25 Ultra variant being available only in South Korea and China. It looks like other markets will not get this memory variant.

The Galaxy S25 launch is less than two weeks away. This time there could be a surprise with a fourth model, possibly the Galaxy S25 Slim. We’ll find out more about this device, if it exists, and the entire Galaxy S25 lineup on January 22nd.
