LG G5, LG M5 OLED TVs announced at CES 2025 with brighter displays, but no MLA tech | Tech Tips

LG has refreshed its TV lineup for the year at CES 2025. The new roster includes LG G5, LG M5, LG C5, and LG B5. Here we will check out the flagship LG OLED Evo G5 and the next-in-line LG OLED Evo M5. The Korean brand brags brighter displays on these two TVs. But interestingly, the newcomers don’t come with the Micro Lens Array (MLA) technology. Here are the key specs details:

LG G5 specifications

• Display: You can pick the LG TV from 48 to 98-inch screen sizes. Instead of a micro-lens array (which was believed to be the tech enabling brighter and better HDR effects on LG flagship TVs of previous years), the G5 uses a “Four Stack” OLED panel. This enables the TV to achieve higher brightness. LG markets this as “Brightness Booster Ultimate” (available for 55-83-inch models). The TV features a 4K resolution, 165Hz refresh rate and Dolby Vision IQ. The built-in Filmmaker mode introduces Ambient Light Compensation to present the picture as the director intended. 
• Audio: You get Dolby Audio, DTS:X HD, 11.1.2 channel surround sound, HDMI eARC
• Connectivity: The IO options include 4 HDMI 2.1 ports, Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2. 
• Processor: The TV comes with an Alpha 11 Gen 2 engine with WebOS 25 software.
• AI features: LG G5 can recognise your Voice and automatically switch user profiles with personalized content recommendations. AI can also help in customising home screens, pictures, and sound settings to your preference. There is also an AI Chatbot that’s there to assist you with common usage issues and optimisations.

LG M5 specifications

• Display: You can choose this TV in 65-inch to 95-inch models. The Brightness Booster Ultimate feature is available for 65-83-inch variants. It uses the same 4 stack design and no MLA. The refresh rate is up to 144 Hz only. The resolution is 4K. You also get Filmmaker mode and Dolby Vision IQ.
• Design: LG M5 is wireless and all its ports and connectivity setup is present inside a Zero Connect Box.
• Other features: The M5 features Dolby Audio, 3 HDMI 2.1 ports, DTS-X HD, Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2.
