Samsung Galaxy A-series has some of the most popular smartphones from the brand because of their value offering. The Galaxy A16 is also a very value-focussed phone with a promise of six years of Android updates. It also has an Exynos 1330 chipset, an AMOLED front, and a 50MP main camera. The chip is different from the phone’s Indian variant. Check out the full specs breakdown below to learn the difference. But first:

Samsung Galaxy A16 5G US price, availability

• Samsung Galaxy A16 launch price in the US is $199 (about Rs 17,000) for the 4+128GB model. 
• It will be available via Samsung.com and other retail outlets in the country starting January 9th, 2025.
• You can pick up the phone in black and blue colours.
• The Indian variant starts at Rs 18,999 for the 8+128GB version.

Samsung Galaxy A16 5G: what’s new

• The key difference between the US and the Indian variant is the underlying chip. The US variant is powered by a 5nm Exynos 1330 SoC (Cortex A78 with 2.4GHz top clock speed) while the Indian model is running on a 6nm MediaTek Dimensity 6300 SoC (Cotex A76 with 2.4GHz top frequency). 
• You get 6 years of Android upgrades and security updates for the same duration. This means you get the latest features that come with the new versions of Android and also stay up to date on security patches. The predecessor offered only 4 years promise.
• The front display is slightly bigger on the new phone. It’s 6.7-inches versus 6.5-inches on the Galaxy A15 5G.
• The newcomer also boasts an IP54 dust and water resistance rating. The precursor didn’t have one.
• The A16 5G (7.9mm) is also slimmer than the A15 5G (8.4mm).
• There is no headphone jack here which the A15 had. 

Samsung Galaxy A16 5G specifications 

• Display: 6.7-inch AMOLED with a waterdrop (Infinity-U) notch, 90Hz refresh rate, FHD+ resolution and 800 nits (with high brightness mode).
• Processor: An Exynos 1330 is powering the phone. It has two Cortex A78 performance cores clocked at 2.4GHz, and six Cortex A55 efficiency cores running at 2.00GHz clock speed.
• Memory: It supports 4/8GB RAM, 128/256GB storage, and up to 1.5TB microSD card expansion (shared SIM slot, card sold separately).
• Cameras: On the back, there is a 50MP main camera, a 5MP ultrawide snapper, and a 2MP macro module. On the front, there is a 13MP selfie taker. You get FHD 30 FPS videos from both sides. 
• Battery: Inside, there is a 5,000mAh cell that’s charged using a 25W adapter (sold separately).
• Miscellaneous: The repertoire consists of a side-mounted fingerprint reader, Wi-Fi AC, Bluetooth 5.3, dual SIM, 5G, and IP54 IP rating.
