Earlier this month it was reported that Nothing is working on three new smartphones expected to launch in the first half of 2025. These could be the Phone (3a), Phone (3a) Plus, and a CMF Phone (2). The flagship Nothing Phone (3) is already confirmed to arrive in next year. Now, a new report sheds light on key details about the mid-range and budget smartphone from Nothing and its sub-brand. These pertain to the processors and cameras on the upcoming offerings.
Key details of Nothing’s upcoming mid-rangers surface
- The folks at Android Authority spotted details about the Nothing Phone (3a), Phone (3a) Plus, and CMF Phone (2) in the Android 15-based Nothing OS 3.0 builds.
- The Phone (3a) duo are codenamed asteroids and asteroids_plus. Meanwhile, the CMF Phone (2) is codenamed ‘galaga’.
- Coming to the main aspect, the Nothing Phone (3a) series will reportedly come with many firsts for the brand.
- The standard model is said to feature a telephoto camera whereas the ‘Plus’ model is tipped to have a periscope telephoto lens.
- This is a massive upgrade compared to the current models as the dual camera setup comprises of a 50MP main and 50MP ultra-wide-angle sensors.
- Even the more premium Nothing Phone (1) and Phone (2) lack a dedicated zoom camera.
- The Phone (3a) and (3a) Plus are reported to come with an eSIM connectivity which is another first for the brand. You will either get a dual nano-SIM or eSIM+nano-SIM option.
- It seems that Nothing would be switching from MediaTek chips on the Phone (2a) duo to Qualcomm’s Snapdragon processor on the successors. Both upcoming models are expected to be powered by a Snapdragon 7s Gen 3.
- As for the CMF Phone (2), it will reportedly stick with MediaTek SoC, dual nano-SIM connectivity, and lack a telephoto camera.
The Nothing Phone (2a) launched in March this year at a starting price tag of Rs 23,999. The Phone (2a) Plus followed up in July with a starting price of Rs 27,999.
